Mr. R. Priyakumar is an adept advocate with 32 years of diversified practice in various domains of law. He enrolled himself as an advocate in the year 1991 he began his private practice in the Madras High Court Campus. He appeared in all the courts from the Small Causes Courts to Metropolitan Magistrate, District Courts to High Court under the tutelage of his father A. Radhakrishnan who was a Public Prosecutor. Not only private and corporate clients but he represented the Government of Indian many fronts before the Hon’ble Madras High Court and Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) where he was the standing counsel for the Government altogether for 12 years. He then practiced under the guidance of his senior Mr. Karupan. Later he was appointed as a panel advocate for BSNL in 2000, when BSNL was incorporated. In 2003 he was appointed as the panel advocate for HUDCO and in 2007 he was appointed as a panel advocate for UPSC. Since then, until he was appointed as the State Information Commissioner, Tamil Nadu, he successfully handled hundreds of cases for them in various domains.

Apart from representing the said entities he has handled several hundred of cases which involved complex questions of law before the various High Courts, District courts across India. His niche being service laws, labour laws, real estate laws, criminal laws and civil suits, he has argued and won several cases which involve questions of intricacies in the said subject matter.

His daughter R. P. Sucharitha is a medical practitioner while his son Vijayakrishnan RP is an advocate who is currently practicing law following his footsteps in the Madras High Court
