Tamil Nadu State Information Commissioner.

Dr. Atulya Misra is a former IAS officer of the 1988 batch of Tamil Nadu cadre. He had a distinguished career in Public Administration, serving in key roles across District, Stateand Central Government Departments.

During his service of thirty seven years, He served as Head of Department, Additional Secretary, Secretary, Principal Secretary and Additional Chief Secretary in various Departments namely Rural Development, Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare, Social Welfare, Transport, Revenue and Disaster Management, Dairy Development, Prohibition and Excise, Industries, Public, Energy, Environment and Forests Department, Mining,Human Resource Management and Youth Welfare and Sports Development Department of Tamil Nadu State Government.

At the National level, he worked in various capacities in Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Coal, Port and Shipping, Youth Affairs & Sportsand Railways.

Dr. Atulya Misra has contributed his expertise to key committees, including the investigation of the Kottagudi Reserve Forest fire, Nomenclature for Denotified Communities, setting norms for Disaster Relief Camps, and the Arjuna Award Selection Committee.

He holds Master Degree from Delhi University, an MPP from Texas Yale & TERI University, a SWY certification from UNU, Tokyo and a certificate course in PPP from IDS, Sussex(U.K). He also earned a Ph.D. from Anna University.

Dr. Misra is an accomplished author and written acclaimed books namely ‘Oxygen Manifesto- A Battle for the Environment’, ‘Vultures of Paradise’, ‘Testimony By Fire’ and ‘Olympic Quest’.
