B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) from IT-BHU, Varanasi.

Thiru. Abhay Kumar Singh, I.P.S (Retired),was recruited to Indian Police Service in 1992 and allotted to Tamil Nadu Cadre. During his service, he held important positions in the State. His experience ranges from working as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in Subdivisions, Superintendent of Police (SP) in the Districts, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police in the Ranges, Inspector General (IG) of Police in the South Zone.

He also worked as Superintendent of Police (SP)-CBCID, Deputy Director-Vigilance and Anti-corruption, Joint Commissioner of Police, Chennai North, Additional Commissioner of Police-Crime, Greater Chennai Police (GCP) & Additional Commissioner of Police- Traffic, Greater Chennai Police (GCP).

He served as Additional Director General Police (ADGP) in Idol wing - CID, Armed Police, CB-CID, Vigilance and Anti-corruption (VAC). He was promoted as Director General of Police (DGP) and continued to function as Director, Vigilance and Anti-Corruption, till his Superannuation.
